I was so fortunate to be able to watch this mom move all 5 of her babies from one home, to a new safer space. A few onlookers stopped people with their dogs on either side, for her to safely cross the path.

Two siblings look on as big sister is the first to branch from the nest.

Always alert, and on the lookout…

The woods are beautiful with fresh snow, and the sun rising through the trees…

What usually appears to be a plain black bird, this Grackle is really showing off some colour in the rain.

I sat so still, and for so long, that this little guy walked right under my dangling feet. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get that close to one again.

I would love to return to Alberta in Winter, to photograph these Hares again, as they turn white for the winter months.
